ABOUT karumandi COFFEE:

This coffee comes from Karumandi washing station in the coffee-growing region of Kirinyaga, where
smallholder farmers cultivate coffee on the fertile slopes of Mt. Kenya. The station is part of the
Baragwi Cooperative Society, a long-established cooperative that supports coffee production across
several communities in the area.

Karumandi works primarily with SL28 and SL34 varieties. During harvest, farmers deliver freshly picked
ripe cherries to the station, where the coffee is pulped, dry fermented for 24 hours, washed, and
separated by density. Coffee is then dried on raised beds under careful supervision until reaching the
desired moisture level before resting and milling. The station processes each lot individually, allowing
the unique characteristics of every harvest to be preserved.
